This
piece is made from airline textile waste, including disposable pillow cases
and blankets. Saved and snagged from flights she’s taken around the world
over the past three years, designer Taylor Cass Stevenson used a Brazilian hand
sewing technique called ‘fuxico’ to piece the dress together, crafting
an organic aesthetic to contrast natural form with synthetic materials. Tanya
Cheeke modeled this piece at Portland Fashion week as part of
Junk
to Funk's new work, in October, 2010.
