Umam Documentation and Research

Beirut, Lebanon

A group of Lebanese highschoolers, led by Ramzi Hibri, played music with trash and broken instrument during the opening night. Inspired by the project, they are now working on creating an entire album of trash music.

The exhibit opened only a couple of weeks after violent clashes had broken out throughout Lebanon. The show was held in Beirut's Dahiye neighborhood, a predminantly Shi'a neighborhood and Hezbullah stronghold. Regardless, over one hundred people came to the opening and many more attended during following weeks.
